Eddy Curry became the latest victim of another forgettable season when an MRI on Sunday revealed torn cartilage in his right knee. He was ordered home to get rest and will be re-evaluated later in the week.
He is actually listed as questionable for Wednesday's game in Miami because playing is not likely to cause further damage. With the Knicks so far off the pace, it seems to make sense to get surgery out of the way to make sure Curry begins rehabilitating at the earliest possible moment. That decision will come later in the week.
"I think that'll basically be his decision in terms of he and the medical staff, if they feel that he can play (and) if he's physically able to play," Knicks coach Isiah Thomas said. "Right now he's not physically able to play, and we'll see if there's a surgical procedure that's needed."
DALLAS 108, KNICKS 79: After taking solace in the fact they were at least competitive while dropping four in a row during a recent homestand, the Knicks had nothing to soothe a blowout on Monday at American Airlines Center.
It was over in a hurry.
The Knicks (18-46) were down 10-0 before Wilson Chandler got them on the board nearly four minutes into the first quarter. They started 4 for 23 from the field and were down 27-11 with two minutes left in the first quarter.
Jason Kidd and the Mavericks exploited a defense that refused to hustle back. Dallas had 17 of its 32 fast-break points in the opening quarter.
Zach Randolph led the Knicks with 21 points and 14 rebounds. Eddy Curry did not travel with the Knicks because of torn cartilage in his right knee.
