Sanders' firing led to a sensational sexual-harassment trial and an $11.5 million settlement last year.

Thomas was later removed from his position as team president and coach, following a dismal 23-win season, matching a franchise record in futility.

While he's still drawing his $6 million-a-year salary, he now has what's essentially a no-show position with no title.

Sources said Thomas has had a hard time making the transition to a less active career and has been stewing in sadness, loneliness and bitterness.

On Friday, a man identified by sources as Thomas was found unconscious on the floor of his Purchase home. Sources said he had taken about 10 Lunesta sleeping pills.

In an interview with The Post, Thomas, 47, said he wasn't the one who went to the hospital — it was his teenage daughter, who was having a medical issue.

Harrison Police Chief David Hall said Thomas was lying.

"He's trying to cover it up. He's not telling the truth. It was a 47-year-old black man," he said.

"It wasn't his daughter," he said, "and why they're throwing her under the bus is beyond my ability to understand."

Isiah accuser: 'I don't feel sorry for him'

Isiah accuser: 'I don't feel sorry for him'
At least one New Yorker isn't feeling too bad about Isiah Thomas' emergency visit to the hospital.

A lifetime of treating people like trash may finally have caught up with the ex-Knicks coach, former team executive Anucha Browne Sanders said yesterday as she reacted to reports that the man she sued for sexual harassment accidentally overdosed on sleeping pills.

"I've said all along he should have time to reflect on how badly he's treated people over the years. Now that he's not working, he should think about the victims of Isiah. Maybe that's what's going on," Sanders told The Post.

"I doubt it," said the woman who netted almost $12 million in her sexual-harassment suit against Thomas and the team, in which she claimed he callously branded her a "bitch."

Speaking out for the first time since her former tormentor was rushed to a Westchester hospital after what cops described as an apparent prescription-drug overdose, Sanders said she feels sympathy only for Thomas' family.

"If he tried to commit suicide, I don't want to pounce on him," she said, but "I don't feel sorry for him. You make your bed, you lie in it."

Browne Sanders added:

"I don't know what to say about it. If he's not mentally stable, I'm not going to say anything to make it worse," but she surmised he was likely having a tough time adjusting to life outside the Madison Square Garden bubble.

"That whole environment, you don't realize how sick an environment it is until you step away from it," said Sanders, who was canned from her Knick job after complaining about Thomas' conduct.

"I just think he should probably stay and play with (the management at) Madison Square Garden. That's where he belongs," she said. "It's just pitiful."
