The Knicks have exclusive negotiating rights to point guard Jason Williams - if they want them.
The NBA yesterday ruled the Knicks have until Thursday to negotiate exclusively with Williams, who retired in September and then sought to be reinstated in February. He was denied by a vote of the league's teams and the Clippers, whom he signed with last summer, waived their rights to him last week. The Knicks got the first crack because they had the worst record of the interested teams. "We can confirm the league has given us exclusive rights to talk with Jason Williams and we will talk with him next week," a Knicks spokesman said.
The Knicks still are considering an offer sheet to Bucks free agent Ramon Sessions - though they are reluctant about the multi-year aspect of such a deal.
