The guard was inactive again for the Knicks' 116-106 victory over Oklahoma City on Friday at the Garden, and though sources told The Post's Marc Berman on Thursday that Marbury and Walsh had held preliminary discussions for a buyout, Marbury wouldn't divulge any information.

"Nothing's going on right now," Marbury said of the 45-minute meeting. "I met with Donnie (Thursday). This is the first time we met where we were talking."

Before last night's game, Marbury added, "There's nothing going on except a humbling experience."

Knicks president Donnie Walsh said he will not comment on Marbury anymore.

The conversation -- which included Players Association attorney Hal Biagas -- involved finally bringing an end to the prolonged standoff between Walsh and Marbury, who acts as his own agent. Marbury has yet to suit up for a game this year, and he is due $21.9 million this season, the final year of his contract.

A source said Walsh wants to have a say in where Marbury winds up, presumably not with a conference rival.

Center needs rest

First-round pick Danilo Gallinari said he will be out for 4-6 weeks after receiving another cortisone shot for his ailing back on Thursday.

Gallinari said doctors told him surgery wasn't necessary, but he needs to rest the back for more than a month.

"(The doctors said) just be patient," Gallinari said.

Now the future is very cloudy for the No. 6 pick in last summer's draft.

"We don't know if he's going to be great in January or not play at all," coach Mike D'Antoni said. "He's going to rest and work on his core strength. We hope sooner rather than later he'll be back, but we had this discussion two months ago, so obviously I'm not an expert on it. We'll just take it day to day and see how it goes."
