Knicks president Donnie Walsh isn't ready to reveal whether Stephon Marbury is going to be on the roster when training camp opens.
The controversial playmaker is healthy after undergoing surgery to remove bone spurs from his ankle last season, and he's under contract for one more year at $21 million. A fresh start for the struggling franchise probably demands a divorce. Marbury is a talented player who comes with too much baggage, and several teammates do not want to see him in a Knicks uniform. It seems money is no object. Cutting the grumpy point guard could actually result in luxury tax savings.
There is no shortage of ball handlers in place. Chris Duhon and Anthony Roberson were signed in the offseason. Mardy Collins is back. Nate Robinson and Jamal Crawford are both capable of setting up the offense when they aren't spotting up for jumpers.
