It's no secret the Knicks are enamored with Davidson guard Stephen Curry as a good fit in coach Mike D'Antoni's up-tempo system. Curry has said repeatedly he'd love to play for D'Antoni in New York.
Now, though, the question is whether the Knicks' No. 8 pick is good enough to snatch Curry. His stock is rising such that Curry could go as early as No. 3 to the Oklahoma City Thunder, the team that scouted him most extensively throughout last season. Curry said he's scheduled to work out for the Knicks Wednesday. He did his first workout with his hometown team, the Charlotte Bobcats, and anticipates more auditions with the Washington Wizards and Golden State Warriors. The Portland Trail Blazers interviewed Curry at the NBA Combine, indicating they'd consider trading into the lottery to acquire him.
Curry's performance in drills at the Combine were spectacular. Based on the feedback Curry got in Chicago, he believes his range is No. 3 to No. 14.
"I proved up there in Chicago what my potential is, and I just have to keep that up," Curry said in Charlotte.
SEASON HIGHLIGHT: It happened while most of the Knicks were on the beach. Nate Robinson captured the country's imagination as Krypto-Nate, flying over Orlando star Dwight Howard, aka Superman, on All-Star Weekend to capture the slam dunk championship for the second time.
TURNING POINT: After winning three games in a row on the road, the Knicks came home within range of a postseason berth and promptly lost to New Jersey and Sacramento on March 18 and 20. The slide hit six before they upset New Orleans, but the lack of energy and lousy defense left them playing out the string.
