--Al Harrington, Tim Thomas and Cuttino Mobley were introduced at Madison Square Garden before the Knicks played Washington on Saturday, but they were not able to suit up. All six players involved have to first pass mandatory physicals to make the deal official. That process will start for Harrington, Thomas and Mobley on Sunday, and practice has been moved to 3 p.m. on Monday so that everyone can participate.
--The one name dropped in newspapers and newscasts in the hours following the roster moves Knicks president Donnie Walsh completed on Friday was not in either of the deals. LeBron James, who is the prize of the free agent class in two summers, figured prominently in the media coverage. It could be a circus on Tuesday when Cleveland visits Madison Square Garden. QUOTE TO NOTE: "That was important, but at the same time I don't want anybody to think the players, the fans, that next two years aren't going to be exciting and let's just wait until 2010 to tune back in. We're going to do everything we can do to make the playoffs, to be an exciting team, and I'm excited about who we have and the core that stayed, and there's no reason why we're not in the playoffs." -- Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni, who can't deny the salary-cap implications but believes in his retooled team.
