New York Knicks Notes, Quotes 2009-11-09

New York Knicks Notes, Quotes 2009-11-09--Add PG Brandon Jennings to the one-that-got-away pile from past Knicks drafts. Though it's still very early, Jennings' strong play for the Bucks has made many question the Knicks' decision to pass on him with the No. 8 pick and take Jordan Hill, who is clearly a project.

Jennings admitted he hoped to be a Knick and was "a little upset" when they didn't select him. "Maybe things happen for a reason," he said.

The lightning-quick guard had 17 points, three assists and four rebounds with five turnovers against the Knicks, who clearly had a need at point guard going into the summer but opted instead for the potential of the 6-10 Hill. After sitting for four straight games, Hill has started to see some action in the past two. Against the Bucks, Hill played 12:49 and had seven points, six rebounds and three steals.

--G Chris Duhon has struggled mightily and even went the equivalent of seven straight quarters without scoring a point, before his free throw against the Bucks snapped the drought. Duhon's shooting has been an issue, but what has noticeably deteriorated are other areas of his game, as evidenced by laziness on defense. Early in the third quarter, Mike D'Antoni yanked Duhon after he blew coverage on a back-door play and then failed to get out on a 3-point shot.

Duhon admitted guilt and said, "Those are effort plays. And I didn't make the effort."

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We got outplayed so badly in the first quarter, it really didn't matter what happened after that." -- C David Lee, on the Knicks' effort against the Bucks, who took a 40-22 lead after the first quarter.
