--Patrick Ewing Jr. was the final cut at the end of training camp and spent the season in the D-League. But his determination to make it with the Knicks, the team for which his father had a Hall of Fame career, remains strong. The younger Ewing, who is a 6-6 forward, will play for the Knicks entry in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas and hopes to earn another trip to training camp in late September.
The Knicks summer league roster is loaded with second-chances and opportunists, with former first-round picks such as sharpshooter Morris Almond and Yaroslav Korolev and D-League graduates Blake Ahearn, Joe Crawford and Alex Acker also on the team, which feature the teams' two first-round picks, Jordan Hill and Toney Douglas. The Knicks will have at least three roster spots to fill in training camp. QUOTE TO NOTE: "We wanted to make sure, as we would with anybody that comes here, that they knew the Knickerbockers have a great history, so we'll make everyone aware of that." -- President Donnie Walsh, on the aggressive pursuit of free agents Jason Kidd and Grant Hill one year before the team expects to be very active in free agency.
