--F Wilson Chandler finally succumbed to his frustration. In the final minutes of a blowout loss in Detroit on Friday, he punched the ball into the stands, reacting to a foul call on G Chris Duhon and was ejected.
"He showed some emotion," Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni said. "Sometimes, that's not all bad."
--G Quentin Richardson left Friday's game in Detroit with an injury to his left arm. He was to go for X-rays afterward. Richardson got the arm wrapped in the third quarter, and returned to the game despite not being able to shoot because the Knicks were short guards.
--F Tim Thomas knows not playing a lot recently is catching up to him. In two games with the Knicks, he's looked out of shape. And despite having played under Mike D'Antoni in Phoenix, the versatile forward is not comfortable in the system.
"That's part of the process," Thomas said. "I know how the system works, but at the same time it's been almost three years. I'm just trying to get an understanding of the system again."
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Jared Jeffries (fractured left fibula) is shooting on the side and may be cleared to begin practicing on Friday.
--C Eddy Curry (bruised knee) needed a cortisone shot recently to relieve the pain. He is not ready to resume practicing.
--F Danilo Gallinari (back) was instructed by two back specialists to get a second cortisone shot and rest for several weeks before the situation is re-evaluated. There is a possibility the rookie will need season-ending surgery.
--G Nate Robinson (strained groin) is day-to-day after landing awkwardly following a lay-up against Cleveland on Tuesday.
