DRAFT PICKS:
Jordan Hill, PF, 6-10, Arizona (first round, 8th overall) -- An athletic big with a good perimeter touch. Mike D'Antoni sees similarities to a young Amare Stoudemire. Toney Douglas, PG, 6-1, Florida State (first round, 29th overall) -- Tough as nails two-way guard who fills a key third-guard role, especially if Nate Robinson is let go.
PLAYER NEWS:
--C Eddy Curry has lost 30 pounds so far this summer and weighed about 328 pounds when he showed up to work out with the summer league team in Las Vegas on July 12. His trainer, Tommy Weatherspoon, said people are "delirious" if they think Curry will ever get back to his listed weight of 285 and suggests 300 to 315 is his legit target area for this season.
--F Danilo Gallianri worked out with the summer league team in Vegas and says he will be 100 percent recovered from his back surgery when training camp opens in late September. The Knicks will be counting on the 20-year-old Italian, who says the team "should make the playoffs next year."
--G Chris Duhon's status with the Knicks is in doubt considering the team's point guard search this summer. Duhon is going into the final year of the mid-level deal he signed last summer to take over the starting role from Stephon Marbury. Duhon had a strong first half last season, but his play dropped off dramatically as a result of playing a heavy load of minutes while dealing with back stiffness.
MEDICAL WATCH:
--F Danilo Gallinari (back surgery) continues to improve as he says he is pain-free. He expects to be ready for the start of the season.
--F Wilson Chandler (bone spurs) has continued his rehabilitation and is expected to be ready for training camp.
